For the love of hand-me-downs

My favorite sort of hand-me-down is one with a nice history...and pictures are always good too.
Last year, one of my Aunt's gave me a dress (two actually) that my grandma had made.  My dad's other sister shared pictures of herself in it today after I shared pictures of Sunshine in the same dress.  I think it was in the early 1960s that the pictures of my Aunt are from.

And Sunshine, in the same dress (which now needs mending thanks to her jumping on the hem)

Dolly's blanket is made by my grandma as well. She was a very talented crocheter.

Mrs. Snowman

First day of Christmas Break, what do you do?  Make a snowman of course!  It snowed all day Saturday and Sunday pretty much, so there was plenty of snow to work with.  Mr. Man took pictures, and unfortunately I still had the camera set up for Christmas tree lighting, so it wasn't really ready for bright outside pictures.  He got it figured out pretty well though.

Drama Queen rolled the base of our snowman, then we worked together to make, and lift, the second tier.  Snow sure is heavy!
I put on the head and we got working making a face.

And I just barely remembered we have a corn cob pipe for it!  Darn!

The little girls made their own little snowmen.
Mischief's in progress

Sunshine was so proud of her snowman...until Mischief pointed out it had no eyes.

Mischief declared,  "I made my snowman AWESOME! It has a CHIN! It's awesome."
Drama Queen hasn't quite finished hers, everyone else has gone in side...

Milestones

Drama Queen can cut her own fingernails. Also, she has agreed to let me loop her loose front tooth with floss to pull tomorrow. (update: success!)

Mischief, who has been working all year on developing the skill, has just about mastered whistling. And she can now identify numbers 5 and 8.

Sunshine....can make cookies disappear faster than you can realize they are in her reach.  Also she can say Santa Claus and Christmas tree.  And she is the guardian of the presents(the whole 4 that are out).  if you take them out from under the desks the tree is on, she will scold you.

O Tannenbaum O Tannenbaum

My mother sent us a 24 foot strand of lights when we discovered our lights were dead.  And like really dead.  It was a 3 strand line and only one third of it worked once Mr. Man fiddled with it a bit replacing bulbs and such.

Mischief, Sunshine, and I made popcorn garlands.

For the love of sewing...and photography...all in one!

Pattern testing is good for my head (and my self-confidence)  and apparently gives me endorphins the way exercise does for most people.  More info on the sewing blog:

To-Do list

I'm seriously lacking any desire to do anything.  My head keeps giving me excuses like, "you're sick and hacking things up every few minutes, just sit and watch youtube"  or "it's 1 degree outside, just stay bundled up under your three blankets" or "you can do it later"....SO

  1. melt ice from playroom window
  2. dry playroom window and window sill
  3. put up plastic over playroom window
  4. put up plastic over little girls window and tv room window
  5. dishes
  6. laundry
  7. pick up tv room.
  8. set up sewing machine
  9. find hairbrush
  10. sort toys
  11. make gf cookies
  12. clean 2 qt jars to fill with gf flours

Backyard Sledding

We have a slight hill in the backyard, which is nice cause I haven't the slightest idea where there is a sledding hill around here.  Our hill is big enough to amuse the girls thankfully. Sledding pictures by Mr. Man.
