Home

Feeling out of place here, but it is nice to be home. The girls immediately went back to coming to mommy for everything and I just tell them, you need to go to dad still.
They all like her. Drama Queen was eager to hold her and Mischief held her for a little bit. Sunshine was interested in briefly holding her too. So, they all got to meet her and then she and I went to take a nap.

After 3 days of calm and quiet, opening the door and finding 3 raggamuffins was a bit overwhelming. Sunshine apparently has refused to take off her bunny jammas since I left - we put them on Tuesday night..... Mischief's hair looks like a bad wig and DQ just somehow seems grimey. Showers for them tonight is a must. I have to remember though that that is daddy's job. I am not supposed to be doing any more than I had been in the hospital.
Mr. Man went and got my prescriptions, and I wished I still had a nurse to keep track of them for me.

Sheesh!  I grabbed a dry erase marker and turned a picture in my room into a white board to keep track like they did at the hospital.

Flower Pink looked at her sisters briefly before our nap and hasnt woken since. She's squirmy in her sleep, but I am waiting for her to fully wake up so we can do a full nursing instead of the 10 minutes every hour she started doing last night.

I am going to finish up her rabbit while I wait for her to decide she really is hungry. Assuming I don't fall asleep again....

Day Three

7:25am
Best part of last night's nurse is that she let me sleep!  Three wake ups only, all per my request - two were to keep up on my pain medication and once was to feed Flower Pink. I am still a tad bit tired, but it is after 7, and I want breakfast and my baby!  In fact I am going to throw on some socks and go find her!  She was supposed to have some testing this morning, bilirubin and I dont remember the other...

9:28am
Found my baby and today's nurse in the nursery. Dr. Bailey was to arrive shortly so I sat in a rocker until he came and looked at her charts and checked her over.  I was pleased that he recognized me and which baby was mine though we'd only me yesterday. Perhaps we'll take this like one to him rather than the PA in the office who the other girls see. Her bilirubin level is good and low, a touch of yellow to her face, but she's our least yellow baby yet!

When he was done I took her back to my room and discovered my breakfast had arrived.
I sliced the banana to eat on the pancakes. I can't eat them straight from the peel, that is just blech to me.

Today's nurse is amusing. She is delighted to have the low-maintenance patient, as I was apparently described to her.  She wanted to just hang out in my room today because it "feels nice in here", aka calm, she sat on the bed and chatted a bit and then got called away and after she came back, she got another call. I hardly ever call, so pehaps that is why I am considered low maintenance?  I apparently surprise them as well with my contentment to drink water.   I drink a lot of water. I don't love juice. I drank what would normally be about a month's worth of juice for me on the first day, I am definitely juiced out. I do like soda and so I again requested a can with lunch. I didnt even finish yesterday's can, but having the option is nice.
I added a side salad to today's lunch order. The lack of vegetables has been bothering me. Fruit fruit fruit at every meal. Only vegetables were the lettuce and tomato on the entrees yesterday.  Though I picked chicken and rice with carrots for today's lunch, so I'll have carrots too!

Flower Pink has been totally knocked out by my pain medication. I tried halving the dosage but could barely move so I will just keep to what I know works...

Today's nurse was also delighted with how well Flower Pink latches on. I am delighted as well that we have both gotten it down so well. She has lost some more weight, she's down to 7 pounds, but no one is concerned by it. A nice change from past babies where I've been pushed (and resisted) to suuplement with formula. I have nothing against formula. Two of the girls were mostly formula fed, but the kind my kids can tolerate is ridiculously expensive, who bu formula if you can feed them for free?   Though it sounds like several of the new moms here are struggling with breastfeeding. I can relate to that!

It was amusing to me that of the 5 babies in the nursery this morning, Flower Pink included, 4 were girls and two had names ending in "ton" and the other two ended with "lyn". My first kid to have a bery trendy name. It's a family name though! After her grandma and grandma's mom.

3:08pm
I forgot to get a picture of Aunt April holding her!  She came and visited for a bit. It was really nice to have someone to just chat with for a little while.

Lunch was very good. I pucked the only item that came with a vegetable side and asked for a side salad to be added as well, so I finally got some vegetables!

Flower Pink has slept and slept and slept today!  My nurse was like, you should take a nap, she's probably going to be awake all night!  I think I will take a nap. But she did wake for a bit. Oh, I just remembered I need to change her diaper.

She is such a quiet baby still!  There are some loud babies here now which just emphasizes how quietly content she is.
I took lots of pictures while she was awake. Love seeing those little eyes open. Those are all on the Canon though.   One last picture for now will be of how she loves to have her legs stretched out.

I think we will take naps now. Or once I get up and close the door again. This nurse likes to leave it open......

4:00pm
Hahaha. Milk drunk.

7:43pm
Mr. Man has come and gone. So has today's day nurse. Thankfully. She's a pleasant and energetic person, but also kinda....not on top of things as much as the other nurses have been.  She didnt update the board until the afternoon when I asked her to. The board has her name and on floor number to call and the times for when my next medications are due. And I am SO thirsty because she only filled my jug 4 times and always did it 2/3rds with ice!  You can't drink ice!  And I'm not an ice cruncher. I should have asked for water as soon as she walked into the room. But I got used to every other nurse asking if I needed anything before leaving my room. But she'll be my nurse again Sunday if I am still here, so that'll be fun because she did make the day not feel lonely.

It also helps that I had a second visitor today!  Aunt Dee came by to admire my little darling. It was so nice to visit with her.

I picked a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for dinner. Forgetting of course that I should be avoiding dairy when nursing. My kids tend to not do well with it. I requested extra dessert when Miss Room Service told me what it was. And thus ended up with 3 delicious oatmeal raisin cookies the size of Flower Pink's head!

Loving my night nurse. She actually talks to Flower Pink.  The same way I do. Makes me feel less weird! And when she refilled my water she dumped out majority of the ice. Hooray! First world problems. I know.

I broke my phone charger in the most peculuar way. I hope it will still work....

Day Two

7:19am
Sleep?  Who needs sleep? I'll just continue randomly drfting off at odd times....

Flower Pink loves her binky. Which is great until it caused some nipple confusion. She evenrually figured out she was sucking the wrong way and ate enough to fall asleep. Or I assume that's what happened, I kinda fell asleep. I am now cathater free and oxygen monitor free and will soon be IV free!

And I get solid food for breakfast.

5:04pm

Wow, today has flown by!  Time is going much to quickly. I am trying to savor the silence and neatness of my hospital room and the lack of demands from little people. I just feed Flower Pink and snuggle her, and occasionally change her diaper.
I was in immense pain around lunch time though.  It took much medication before I was able to even just be sitting without pain. So now we're going to work on keeping me on them rather than waiting until my pain is so high, with the hope that I will be able to use less if we just maintain maintain maintain.

I do miss the other girls. I will greatly enjoy my next day or so here though. It's an expensive vacation, but my souvineer is one of a kind.

I was grateful for the lactation consultant coming by this morning.  It was perfect timing too as Flower Pink had just started nursing.  You'd think nursing was like riding a bicycle, but apparently I've had training wheels on so I've never actually ridden. Getting a truely proper latch is difficult for me, since I've fed 3 child in what one of the papers says is like a suction cup. I was grateful for hands on help showing me how I should do it. I hope she comes by again before I go because I know I'm still not fully doing it right, though I think it is better than it was. Maybe this is why I never had chubby babies.
My mom made these darling baby booties!  I love love love them and they fit Flower Pink perfectly.

I rearranged the bed sort of so I could actually use my electronics while they are charging. My phone drains fast, I am charging it now for the 3rd time today.

Lunch was yummy:
A hamburger and fries sounded fantastically perfect after being on a liquid diet yesterday. A great way to make up for lost calories that I need for milk making!

I am now waiting for dinner to arrive.  And my husband too. I miss him. If we have another, I am having my mom come up for the few weeks right after so I can have some adult company more frequently. They could switch off being here or with the girls.

Speaking of the girls Sunshine is still sick, nor feverish he saysbut she's sleeping a lot and lacks energy. I insisted he take her to the doctor asap, which will probably be tomorrow as it was in the afternoon that I talked to him and learned this.
Mischief is oh so sad and lonely. Two of her friends in kindergarten recently moved. This morning Mr. Man said after she ate breakfast she crawled back into bed, so he let her stay home as it isvery unusual behavior for her, so he was thinking she's getting sick now too but eventually she spilled about her missing friends.

Andnow it is dinner time for me.
Not that I have anything against fruit salad, but they've had it as the side for every single meal today. I really want some green vegetables!

8:35pm
Feels more like it should be 11 or later.
Jordan stayed for s couple of hours and then headed home to make sure the girls went to bed for their cousin.

Just sent a fed and sleeping baby to the nursery. Now to take the last of my medication and eat a popsicle to hopefully soothe my sore throat and I am intending to get some good sleep tonight. We'll try doing photos again tomorrow maybe. Though I didnt bring many things for that. But hopefully she'll cooperate a bit more....just to help me pass the time....

Day One

11:20am
It is lonely in the hospital by yourself. I almost with there was a woman in the other bed this room has.  If we have another baby I will plan child care of the others better so I can have Me. Man here to help me. Though he was bored, I know.  And hungry.

My lunch has arrived. What that it is.
Ah the clear liquid diet.  I actually dont mind it. Except my cousin was talking about Krispy Kreme donuts and my mom was talking about oatmeal cookies....

There's this picture on the wall.  It might give me nightmares. It's like triple larger than life size and she obviously did not have a student hacking at her guts with what felt like a pair of dull scissors. She's just way too happy and not groggy.

See that chair?  It has my bag on it....the bag with my phone charger.
The bag with my books.  The bag with my projects to do...
It's only about 8 feet away.  Which might as well mean I left it at home because my butt is still numb though I can wiggle my tingly feet now....

They're calling the pediatrician to come take a look at Flower Pink. Her lungs no longer sound crinkly and wet, but her heart rate - which should be at 30-60 - is at 80-100.

Oh my sweet baby. You gave me the weirdest pregnancy and now you are keeping up with the abnormalities.

2:01pm
She is doing well!  Sleepy little bugger. So so happy and enamoured!!

9:38pm
Such a content little girl. She is pleasant and easy going so far. She seems to be a good nurser and also loves the soothie, or her hand if she can get to it. She just filled her 4th diaper of the day. She loves to be stretched out, legs as straight as she can get them.

Auntie Beth was her first visitor.

I am doing good as well. Despite the discomfort of the actual procedure, I have only needed ibuprofen so far as well as an ice pack on the incision site.  I can get up myself, but being hooked up to so many things makes me not want to bother.  The padding in this bed leaves something wanting. At least in the sitting zone....

 Her squeaks are cute.

Flower Pink has arrived!

Until I get some pain meds, jello and my baby back, here are some phone pictures. I am a tired grump at the moment.
She's got fluid in her lungs.

Mr. Man has left to eat some food and spend sometime with Sunshine before picking up Mischief from school. Flower Pink (this name is what Sunshine insists her name should be) was being not so pink so the nurses are monitoring her in the nursery and giving her a bath hoping she will scream the rest of the fluid from her lungs.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow....

40 weeks
my back left ribs will stop feeling like they're being ripped apart.
the top of my belly will stop feeling like something is being ripped apart internally.
I won't leak every time I cough or sneeze.
I won't have to maneuver creatively to get in and out of bed.
My hip on whatever side I was sleeping on won't wake me in pain.
I won't wake every hour to pee through the night.
My insatiable appetite for Cap'n Crunch Berries will hopefully be over.
I won't have to sit down to put on pants and shoes.
I can take something for my cold.

I GET TO MEET MY 4TH BABY GIRL!!

Winter sickness is finally hitting. Just in time for baby

Sunshine's fever has lessened. Now she is coughing, gagging on mucus, and sounds oh so scratchy.

Drama Queen came home from school before lunch and climbed into bed.

Mischief says her throat hurts, but I suspect that has more to do with the sickies only popsicles than actual discomfort since she's eating and drinking just fine.

I was doing great today. Lots of laundry, cleaned my bathroom, got half of the kitchen cupboards organized, made dinner, intended to make brownies....and then my head felt thick and heavy and my throat is scratchy and I'm coughing. So now I am in bed after downing some vitamin  C to boost my immune system, melatonin to help me sleep so my body can kick this, and I gargled with salt water to help kill off whatever my throat is doing. I do not want to wear a face mask while holding my newborn.

Only trouble with going to bed this early is that laying down starts up braxton hicks contractions....which finally actually hurt. Official due date is tomorrow.

Sunshine is sick

This means....

Lots of snuggles

Lots of naps

Barf bowls

And needing mommy.

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

Well, we are getting closer to having a baby in the house. The last week has taken forever and there's still a week to go before I start considering being induced. At this point I do feel sometimes like I am NEVER going to go into labor. I finally feel large with child and it isnt really pleasant. Especially when said child is squishing your bladder while kicking your sternum.  It feels like she is going to be our biggest baby yet.

Sunshine is not dealing well already. Pretty sure all hell is going to break lose once baby four is here!

Drama Queen

She wants to grow her hair out, much to my delight.
She quite enjoyed my showing her the flat iron.
Put her outfit together herself.
One of those times I am loving her getting older.

Almost 37 weeks

A belly picture as requested :)
Mr. Man thinks my outie belly button is funny.

Baby #4 likes when I eat or drink anything, she gets really active. She's very active every morning around 8:30/9, even though I dont eat then. I've hit the point where I'm up 4 or 5 times a night to pee.
I really dont feel like my belly is huge when I look down, so pictures of it surprise me.
